Inverness-based care provider Meallmore has appointed a group hospitality manager to ensure consistently high food standards across its 23 care homes in Scotland.
Jody Marshall joins Meallmore from a career working in iconic hotels in some of Scotland’s most popular touring areas where, as general manager, he was responsible for welcoming large groups and ensuring a high quality of service across all areas.
Jody says: “Meallmore believes in giving residents tasty and fulfilling meal choices, using fresh local produce and prepared by well-trained chefs who are passionate about their craft. I am a strong advocate for aiming high and bringing good staff through the system. In previous roles I have mentored chefs through to the finals of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts excellence awards, and I know that Meallmore has enthusiastic chefs who are as keen as I am to refine their skills.”
At Meallmore, Jody will work with regional development chefs for the group, Stuart Middleton and John Hyslop. Stuart, who is based in Aberdeenshire and the Scottish Highlands, is a past previous winner of the prestigious ‘NACC Care Chef of the Year’ competition. John is based in the central belt and has worked at well-known venues such as the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar and Portavadie Marina. Together they will develop company-wide standards.

With a number of awards to his name, Jody knows what works. He won Scottish Hotel of the Year twice and general manager of the year in 2012 and 2014 while working at the Summer Isles hotel (Achiltibuie) and Ballathie House Hotel (near Stanley) respectively. During his time at Summer Isles the hotel won best employer in hospitality for Scotland (6th in the UK) in the national Great Workplaces awards.
“The key to great hospitality management is attention to detail,” Jody says, “and this holds true whether it is a large hotel or a care home. I believe that good nutrition adds to quality of life and I think that Meallmore also understands the importance of this. I look forward to working with my staff to keep Meallmore’s standards high.”
