Meallmore Sponsors Greenock Telegraph Health & Care Awards

Meallmore was recently provided the fantastic opportunity to sponsor the Greenock Telegraph Health and Care Awards 2021. Celebrating local care heroes from the Inverclyde area, the Health and Care Awards honoured the selfless and compassionate work carried out by local front-line workers and those who care for relatives and loved ones.

We were delighted to sponsor the Care Home Worker of the Year award, as we felt this resonated with our experiences and paid tribute to our teams across Scotland, but also our people in our Inverclyde homes, Belleaire and Kincaid.

Our Central West Manager, Jennifer Young, presented the award and had this to say:

“Our staff at Kincaid House and Belleaire House are from Greenock and the surrounding areas, and we understand how much effort and dedication they put in to ensure our elderly residents receive the highest quality of care. After such a challenging year, it is so important to support and commend the efforts of carers who have done so much for others.”

Many of our people from Belleaire and Kincaid got involved, and we are delighted that our colleagues, Avril McFarlane and Greg Haggerty, were nominated for the Care Home Worker of the Year Award. Well done to you both and such a brilliant reflection of the work you are doing, it does not go unnoticed.

We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Jennifer Marshall, a Senior Care Worker from Belleaire, who was a finalist in the Care Home Worker of the Year Award. Jennifer recently qualified with her SVQ Level 3 and has thoroughly embraced her new career in residential care.

Paul Higgins, a Care Worker from Belleaire, was also a finalist in the Care Hero Award category and was commended for his positivity in the home, keeping spirits of residents high when they could not see their relatives and being on call to provide entertainment, all whilst carrying out his primary duties as a carer. Such a fantastic achievement and congratulations, Paul.
