NACC Award for Meallmore's Catering Team

While this has been a strange year for everyone at Meallmore, one of the key comforts everyone has enjoyed throughout has been an excellent standard of food. With everyone spending more time within the homes, food-related activities have also taken a front-seat and a huge amount of credit for both these things has to go to the Meallmore Catering Team, or should we say the AWARD-WINNING Meallmore Catering Team?

We’re over the moon to share that Meallmore have recently won the Catering Team of the Year at The National Association of Care Catering (NACC) awards 2020. The NACC awards are open to entrants from across the UK, which underlines just how competitive the awards are and makes the achievement of our fantastic catering team even more impressive.

This year, and for years before, the Meallmore catering team have gone beyond and above, creating delicious and nutritious meals and in 2020 especially, we’ve seen an increase in the number of tasty and competitive cooking and baking challenges between the homes. From the recent Take the Biscuit challenge to gingerbread houses and much more, there’s been plenty of wonderful food-related activities for staff and residents alike to tuck into and help to maintain that vital home spirit.

It’s also been fantastic to see three Meallmore chefs make it to the Scottish regional finals, battling to win a place in the grand NACC final. Unfortunately, the finals were cancelled due to COVID-19 but we still consider it a huge achievement to have three out of five regional final spots occupied by Meallmore chefs. We can’t wait to see them take on the competition next year and hopefully follow in the footsteps of other Meallmore chefs who have gone on to win the overall competition.

The NACC award panel had the following to say about Meallmore’s award: “The ‘Meallmore Standard’ is a term widely associated with the food, hospitality and dining experience it delivers. The team of talented, engaging and motivated chefs lives by the mantra ‘if food isn’t fun, you’re doing it wrong’ and it’s this ethos that scooped them the award. The judges praised Meallmore’s ongoing achievements, saying: “Past successes for individuals and now success for an outstanding team. Well done Meallmore.”

A huge congratulations once again to everyone in the catering team – you make a huge difference to the residents’ lives and we’re lucky to have such a dedicated and innovative team.
