Auchtercrag House Care Home due to open new care unit

Work is underway at Auchtercrag House Care Home in Ellon to create a new care unit dedicated to providing care for older people locally.

Auchmacoy Lodge will offer an exclusive selection of high quality accommodation, finished to an exceptional standard, coupled with Meallmore’s excellent standards of care.

It comprises eight generous sized en-suite bedrooms, specifically designed with comfort and care in mind. There will also be a spacious living and dining area, a well-stocked library and hairdressing and beauty salon.

Auchmacoy Lodge replaces the Auchmacoy GP Unit which was relocated by Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership to new premises earlier this year.

Louise Marshall, Aberdeenshire Area Manager for Meallmore, explains:

“We’ve been working on plans to significantly refurbish the former GP unit so it continues to provide care locally and to retain our excellent, experienced staff team. We’re thrilled to be able to expand our services.”

As part of Auchtercrag House Care Home residents of Auchmacoy Lodge will also have access to its care services and facilities, including the extensive activities programme.

Rae Paterson, Care Home Manager, added:

“We’ve already had a lot of interest in our plans for Auchmacoy Lodge. Anyone joining us as a new resident will benefit from being part of our wider care home community, if they wish. We’re counting down the days until we open.”

Auchmacoy Lodge will provide nursing, respite and palliative care for people over 60 and is due to open at the end of August 2019.
