The Meallmore Games brought together residents and colleagues across Scotland’s care homes for a week of laughter, movement and unforgettable moments.
Across our 27 Meallmore care homes in Scotland, there’s been one word on everyone’s lips this past week: Games!
The 2025 Meallmore Games brought a fresh wave of energy, colour and connection to every corner of our care communities, uniting residents, colleagues and families in a friendly and creative celebration of active living. From Greenock to Inverness, from our adult specialist services to our elderly care homes, the Games were a true demonstration of how care homes can be places of vibrancy, laughter and purpose.
Designed to encourage movement, wellbeing and teamwork, the Meallmore Games are a highlight in our annual calendar – and this year’s event was our biggest and boldest yet.
Over the course of the week, homes competed in a light-hearted series of challenges:
Each activity was designed with inclusivity in mind, allowing everyone to take part in their own way, whether that meant guiding a plane down a hallway, cheering from the sidelines, or leading the conga at the afterparty.
At Meallmore, we’re proud to be more than just care providers. We’re community builders. The Meallmore Games are a perfect expression of that commitment – showing that our care homes in places like Ayr, Ellon, Fraserburgh, Inverness, Greenock, and Glasgow are not just safe and supportive, but exciting and empowering too.
Activities like these aren’t just for fun – though there’s no shortage of that – they’re an important part of how we promote physical and mental wellbeing across our homes. Movement matters, laughter matters, and feeling connected matters.
Events like the Meallmore Games offer all of those things in one joyful package. They help our residents stay active, challenge themselves, and feel part of something bigger. And for our colleagues, they’re a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
Every home rose to the occasion, but the real winners were the residents and teams who made the magic happen. From the triumphant dunkers to the perfectly aimed paper planes, every smile, every cheer and every high-five meant the world.
We saw homes bringing their own flair to the challenges – with decorations, team shirts, and even mini-opening ceremonies. It’s this kind of creativity and care that makes Meallmore homes stand out. Whether you're looking for residential care in Glasgow, specialist support in the Highlands, or a nursing care home in Ayrshire, our commitment to creating great places to live and work is what ties us together.
The Meallmore Games aren’t just a one-off event. They’re part of a wider, year-round focus on inclusion, joy and active ageing. By embedding activity and celebration into the culture of our homes, we help residents continue to grow, achieve and thrive.
As we look ahead to next year’s Games, we do so with pride – not just in the medals or the miles walked, but in the moments shared. Because in every Meallmore home, from Kincaid House in Greenock to Greenan Manor in Ayr, we’re proving that care isn’t just about support – it’s about life.
We’re committed to sharing knowledge, advice, and updates from across our care homes and the world of care. Read our latest articles, resident stories, and company updates.
