Excellence, empowerment, and compassion at the heart of Meallmore care
At Meallmore, we’re proud to celebrate another example of excellence in action. Hilton Court Care Home, one of Scotland’s leading specialist care services, has once again achieved very good results in its latest unannounced Care Inspectorate inspection, securing Grade 5 (Very Good) ratings for both How Well Do We Support People’s Wellbeing and How Good Is Our Setting.
This recognition reaffirms Hilton Court’s position as an industry leader in high-quality, person-centred care, reflecting Meallmore’s ongoing commitment to being Scotland’s most trusted care provider.
The inspection report shone a spotlight on Hilton Court’s warm, inclusive, and empowering environment, where positive relationships between residents, families, and colleagues are central to daily life.
Inspectors described receiving “lots of lovely feedback” from residents and relatives across all departments, with comments such as:
“The staff are wonderful people.”
“I’m really impressed with the quality.”
“The manager’s brilliant as far as I’m concerned.”
These remarks encapsulate the heart of Hilton Court - a place where care goes beyond support, building trust, confidence, and genuine connection.
Families also praised how involved they feel in their loved ones’ care, noting that communication is open, transparent, and inclusive - values that are at the core of Meallmore’s C.A.R.E. principles: Create, Act, Recognise, and Engage.
Hilton Court has become known for its re-enablement and recovery-focused approach, helping residents gain confidence and build life skills that foster independence.
Inspectors highlighted numerous examples of empowerment in action - from self-catering and money management to travel training, self-medication, and personal housekeeping. This practical, person-centred focus helps residents develop autonomy and prepares them for independent living where possible.
The report also praised Hilton Court for breaking down stigma and supporting residents to overcome barriers as they move into their own tenancies - a rare and highly commended achievement in the care sector.
“The home’s recovery-focused approach is helping people take control of their futures,” the inspectors noted. “It’s clear that residents have a strong voice and deep understanding of their care.”
Hilton Court’s approach centres on meaningful engagement - creating opportunities for every resident to take part in both one-to-one and group activities that enrich daily life.
From Come Dine With Me cooking sessions and community initiatives to wellbeing projects and creative activities, residents are encouraged to explore their interests and celebrate their individuality.
The inspection team commended the flexibility of Hilton Court’s care model, which adapts to each person’s changing needs, goals, and preferences. There was strong evidence of positive risk-taking, empowering residents to make decisions safely while learning and growing from each experience.
Good food and nutrition are key to wellbeing, and Hilton Court’s kitchen team were singled out for praise. Inspectors highlighted their commitment to promoting healthy, balanced meals while involving residents in shaping menus and meal planning.
The home’s collaborative approach, from Come Dine With Me experiences to nutrition-led wellbeing sessions, reinforces Meallmore’s wider commitment to excellence in hospitality and dining across all its homes.
Medication and finances were also recognised as well-managed and safe, with inspectors noting the minimal use of PRN medication - evidence that Hilton Court’s compassionate, proactive approach effectively supports emotional and behavioural wellbeing.
Hilton Court’s environment was described as homely, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed, reflecting residents’ individual tastes and needs. The Care Inspectorate commended the quality of fixtures, furnishings, and the availability of assistive technology that enhances independence.
Residents have free access to outdoor courtyards, and the home’s design promotes comfort, safety, and choice. Maintenance standards were praised for being efficient and well-documented, demonstrating the care and attention given to every detail of the setting.
This aligns closely with Meallmore’s vision of creating great places to live and work - homes that feel personal, uplifting, and designed around people’s wellbeing.
Behind every success story at Hilton Court is a dedicated team of professionals who live and breathe Meallmore’s values.
The inspection highlighted a strong culture of learning and development, with opportunities for colleagues to enhance their skills and progress in their careers. This commitment to continuous improvement ensures that Hilton Court not only meets high standards but continues to set them.
“We’re incredibly proud of our team and the difference they make every single day,” said Suzanne Pitt, Home Manager at Hilton Court. “These results reflect the care, professionalism, and compassion that define who we are.”
The inspection concluded with praise for the service’s leadership, teamwork, and the quality of outcomes achieved - describing Hilton Court as an example of best practice in modern, person-led care.
