Meallmore appoints Julie-Anne Thomson as Manager at Auchtercrag Care Home, celebrating career progression, excellence in care, and strong leadership.
We’re delighted to share that Julie-Anne Thomson has been appointed as the new Care Home Manager at Auchtercrag Care Home in Ellon.
Julie-Anne is no stranger to Meallmore. Over the past 13 years, she has built a remarkable career with us, progressing from care assistant to respected home manager at St Modans Care Home in Fraserburgh. Her move to Auchtercrag is a testament to her hard work, leadership, and passion for delivering person-centred care.
Originally from Fraserburgh, Julie-Anne began her Meallmore journey in 2012 as a care assistant at St Modans Care Home. It was there she discovered her love for the care profession and quickly rose through the ranks to become a senior carer and team leader.
Her talent and dedication led her to Bayview Care Home in Cruden Bay in 2017, where she took on new challenges and stepped up as Deputy Manager. In 2018, she was appointed Care Home Manager at Bayview, where she guided the home to achieve strong quality grades and built a reputation for excellence.
In 2021, Julie-Anne returned to St Modans as Manager, where she once again led the team to impressive sector-leading standards.
Now stepping into her role at Auchtercrag Care Home, Julie-Anne is excited about the future. She shared:
“I’m proud to lead the wonderful team at Auchtercrag House, bringing with me years of experience and a passion for person-centred care. We’ve got a great, supportive team which works really well together. There’s a real team spirit and positive atmosphere, and everyone is working incredibly hard. I strongly believe in leading by example, and one of my top priorities is ensuring our team feels supported, especially when it comes to learning and development. When our staff thrive, so do our residents.
“Since joining Meallmore in 2012 as a carer, I’ve been fortunate to grow my career within a company that truly values its people. The support I’ve received has been amazing – I wouldn’t be where I am without the training and the opportunities the management team has provided me with, and I’m very grateful for that.”
Julie-Anne’s appointment at Auchtercrag is just one example of the strong network of leaders who make our care homes great places to live and work. As she steps into her new role, we’re pleased to share that the mantle at St Modan’s Care Home has been passed to Pamela Geddes, previously Deputy Manager under Julie-Anne. Pamela’s promotion is a wonderful example of how we nurture talent from within, ensuring continuity and strong leadership for both residents and staff.
Julie-Anne, Pamela, and all our managers across Aberdeenshire continue to work closely together, supporting each other and sharing best practices to uphold the highest standards of care.
Situated on Commercial Road in Ellon, Auchtercrag Care Home is a purpose-built facility offering high-quality care for residents with diverse nursing and support needs, including palliative care and support for individuals living with dementia.
Under Julie-Anne’s leadership, we look forward to building on Auchtercrag’s reputation as a welcoming, compassionate community where residents can enjoy fulfilled lives and excellent, personalised care. Her impressive track record and deep commitment to supporting both residents and staff make her an outstanding fit to guide Auchtercrag into its next chapter.
Julie-Anne’s story is a shining example of what’s possible at Meallmore — a place where talent is recognised, nurtured, and given room to thrive. We’re incredibly proud of her achievements and excited to see all that she and the team at Auchtercrag will accomplish together.
