Kynnaird House Care Home celebrates top inspection grades, with residents, families and colleagues praising outstanding care.
There’s a special atmosphere at Kynnaird House Care Home, and the recent Care Inspectorate visit captured that perfectly. With glowing feedback across the board, the home has proudly achieved Grade 5 ratings for both KQ 1.3 (Quality of Care and Support) and KQ 4.1 (Quality of Environment) - a reflection of the dedication, warmth and hard work of colleagues, residents, and families together.
One of the first things the inspectors noticed was how well residents were cared for, with thoughtful attention to individual style and dignity. Residents were described as looking and feeling their best, whether it was through clothing, jewellery, or even handbags at their side. It wasn’t just about appearance - it was about choice, self-expression, and being supported to live life in a way that feels right for each individual.
What really stood out was the atmosphere: filled with laughter, conversation, and genuine connection. Relationships between colleagues and residents were warm and natural, with colleagues creating an inclusive environment where everyone felt respected and part of the home’s life. This reflects Meallmore’s core value of creating environments of kindness - something that was evident in every room.
Relatives and visiting professionals also spoke highly of Kynnaird House. From the quality of meals prepared by the chef, to the communication and support from nursing and care teams, to the practical help provided by housekeeping and maintenance, every department was recognised. Families highlighted how helpful reviews and regular updates were, ensuring they always felt involved and reassured.
Healthcare partners, too, praised the professionalism of the team. They spoke of the trust they had in colleagues, who were always well-prepared and proactive in making referrals. It’s a sign of strong teamwork and a commitment to putting residents first.
The inspection highlighted the wide variety of activities available, both planned and spontaneous. From creative activities with fun, catchy titles to peaceful moments spent in the garden, residents are supported to enjoy each day in meaningful ways. The outdoors is used regularly and imaginatively, offering fresh air, relaxation, and community connections.
Inside the home, the dining experience was described as elegant and sociable, with a feel of “ladies that lunch.” Shared mealtimes not only offered delicious and nutritious food but also encouraged friendships and conversation - enhancing both well-being and community spirit.
Every detail, from clear signage to accessible information, was designed with residents’ independence in mind. This focus on creating an environment where people feel at home contributed to the strong inspection result.
KQ 4.1 focused on the home environment, and inspectors found Kynnaird House to be beautifully maintained, safe, and odour-free. The décor was tasteful and welcoming, with personalised rooms that reflected the personalities of the people living there. Relatives especially valued being able to personalise spaces before admission, helping their loved ones feel settled from the very beginning.
The garden, which has seen significant improvements, was also singled out for creating positive experiences and strengthening community links. Combined with quick response times, good communication among colleagues, and a warm buzz of activity, the overall impression was of a vibrant, caring, and joyful home.
The Care Inspectorate described these as very strong Grade 5 ratings, and rightly so. They are the result of a team that goes above and beyond every day, from leadership through to frontline care, hospitality, and support services.
Home Manager Roselle and the whole Kynnaird House team have created not just a care service, but a community filled with kindness, respect, and opportunity for residents to thrive.
For residents, families, and colleagues alike, this inspection is more than a result on paper; it’s recognition of the heart and soul that makes Kynnaird House such a wonderful place to live and work.
