Meallmore Marches with Pride in Glasgow

This past weekend, colleagues and residents from several of our Central West care homes came together to take part in Glasgow’s annual Pride celebration - and what a day it was. From the energy in Kelvingrove Park to the final steps at The Barras, it was a powerful and joyful walk through the heart of the city, filled with colour, community, and connection.

Representatives from across the region joined in the march, waving flags, walking side by side, and sharing in the feel-good spirit of the day. Even some of our residents from The Oaks came along for the journey, soaking up the atmosphere, cheering with the crowd, and reminding us all that inclusion isn’t about age or circumstance - it’s about belonging.

Branded with Pride

To mark the occasion, Meallmore colleagues proudly wore custom-designed Meallmore Pride t-shirts and accessories, helping us stand out as a unified, vibrant part of the celebration. The personalised touches brought an extra sense of identity and togetherness - with plenty of compliments from fellow walkers and members of the public.

It wasn’t just about the look, it was about wearing our values. The Meallmore Pride wear represented visibility, support, and belonging, all wrapped up in a smile and a rainbow.

Representation That Matters

At Meallmore, we show up because it matters. We take part because every person in our homes, every colleague in our team, deserves to feel seen, supported, and safe being exactly who they are.

Joining Glasgow Pride wasn’t about making noise, it was about quietly, confidently standing for something. It was about ensuring our values are felt, lived, and breathed.

As one of our colleagues on the day put it: “Pride is a moment to say we’re here, we care, and we’ve got your back.”

Meallmore People & Culture Director, Rachel Gothard, shared:

“Pride was an incredible opportunity for our teams and residents to come together and visibly support equality, respect and love in all its forms. The day was full of energy, laughter and purpose – and it meant a great deal to be there, side by side with our residents, showing them that they are supported and celebrated exactly as they are. It was a really proud moment to see Meallmore staff walking with intention and joy – being present in the communities we’re part of and doing it with kindness, not noise.”

Together as One Team

From rainbow hats and fluttering flags to plenty of sore legs by the end of it, what stood out most from the day was the sense of togetherness. Team members from different homes connected and walked as one Meallmore - proud, positive, and filled with purpose.

And having residents from The Oaks with us made it all the more meaningful. Seeing their faces light up, waving flags and chatting with passers-by, reminded us all why inclusion matters.

It’s not just about visibility. It’s about joy. It’s about people. It’s about sharing something special, together. To everyone who took part, cheered us on, and made the day so special, thank you. Whether you marched, supported from home, or simply stood in solidarity, it all counts.

Here’s to more moments of connection, more shared celebrations, and more chances to show the world who we are. 🌈
