Meallmore to Open New Purpose-Built Care Home in Broughty Ferry

Work is now underway on our newest care home in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, a purpose-built home designed to provide exceptional care, comfort, and connection for older people.

Thoughtfully created to support residents living with dementia, frailty, and other age-related health needs, the new home will bring together the very best in design, wellbeing, and person-centred support.

Care That Feels Like Home

Due for completion in early 2027, the new home will offer 54 premium bedrooms arranged in small household-style groupings to create a warm and familiar environment for residents.

Every detail has been considered to promote dignity, independence, and joy in daily life. Residents will have access to a range of facilities including a cinema, café, private dining room, and beauty salon, alongside bright, modern lounges and landscaped outdoor spaces.

The home will also feature terraced areas and private gardens, giving residents and families a choice of peaceful outdoor spaces to enjoy together.

Designed Around People and Place

Located on Dalhousie Road, the three-storey building has been sensitively designed to complement its surroundings, respecting the character of the area while minimising impact on the beautiful, established gardens nearby.

This project represents a £14 million investment in the Dundee area and will create around 60–70 full-time equivalent jobs, spanning nursing, care, management, hospitality, and administration roles.

The build is being delivered by CHAP Group, whose team brings extensive experience in healthcare and residential construction.

Building a Home for Independence and Wellbeing

Michael Gillespie, Property Director, said:

“This new home has been designed to offer the highest quality facilities for residents, while empowering them to maintain their desired levels of independence.
Set in a beautiful spot in Broughty Ferry, this home is going to be a lovely place to live. We’re excited to see the development progress and look forward to welcoming residents in 2027.”

This focus on independence and choice runs through every part of the design - from accessible layouts and bright communal areas to peaceful outdoor spaces and opportunities for residents to lead fulfilling lives.

Supporting Local Jobs and Community Growth

Councillor Steven Rome, Convener of Fair Work, Economic Growth & Infrastructure and Councillor for the North-East Ward – Dundee, joined the project’s sod-cutting ceremony and welcomed the development:

“I was delighted to help in breaking the ground on this exciting project. Developments like this help to boost the local economy and bring disused sites back to life. I look forward to seeing the project developing over the coming months.”

The development not only brings new jobs but also strengthens local services, providing families in the area with access to high-quality, person-centred care in a modern, welcoming setting.

A Shared Vision for Quality

Paul Matthew, Dundee Area Construction Director at CHAP Group, added:

“We’re thrilled to be working with Meallmore to deliver this new care home, which will provide first-class facilities for residents. We look forward to working with Meallmore, the design team and wider community as we deliver the project.”

Together with our construction partners and the local community, this development marks another step forward in our journey to create great places to live and work across Scotland - homes that combine excellent care with comfort, choice, and connection.

As work progresses, we’ll share regular updates from the build here and across our social media channels.

We look forward to welcoming residents, colleagues, and families to Broughty Ferry’s newest home when doors open in 2027.
