On Monday 6th December, staff and residents at our Greenan Manor care home welcomed local MSP, Siobhian Brown, to officially open the home.
Our state-of-the-art care home located in Doonfoot, Ayr, opened its doors to residents back in January 2021. However, with changes to Covid-19 restrictions, we were finally able to celebrate Greenan Manor’s belated opening.
Ms Brown was greeted by Greenan Manor’s care home manager, Elaine Hughes, and resident, Harriet ‘Ettie’ Archibald with a beautiful flower bouquet before being shown around the home.
Our care home staff, residents and members of the local Ayr community were also invited to the official opening, including volunteers from Night Before Christmas charity (NB4CC). Greenan Manor recently donated £500 to the charity, helping local Ayrshire children living in poverty receive gifts in time for Christmas.
Guests enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment from a string trio and a magical performance from a local magician. There was also a selection of homemade canapés and drinks all prepared by Greenan Manor’s Head Chef, Emma Ferrante and the rest of the fantastic catering team.
Siobhian Brown MSP marked the occasion by unveiling a commemorative plaque to officially open the care home. Ms Brown delivered a heartfelt speech thanking everyone at Greenan Manor for their hard work and dedication over the past year to providing residents with quality care. Meallmore’s Managing Director, Gerry Hennessey also said a few words to reflect on achievements made in the past year, including receiving the prestigious Investors in People (IIP) Gold accreditation.
The official opening was just weeks after Meallmore was awarded the prestigious IIP Gold Accreditation, which recognises our commitment to our people. Fewer than 1,000 organisations in the whole of the UK currently have IIP Gold Accreditation, and only 62 of those are classified as care providers – with just six in Scotland. Our care
Greenan Manor has been expertly designed and features 52 fully furnished ensuite bedrooms. The home boasts several stylish communal lounges and dining rooms, as well as a cinema and multipurpose entertainment space and a hairdressing and beauty salon. It is set in a stunning location on the coast with spectacular views across Ayr Bay to the Isle of Arran.
